Our Story
Veikko Laine Oy was established by the Laine family in 1965 as a fruit and vegetable wholesaler. The business soon expanded its operations to include import and export activities. In the 1990s after the collapse of the Soviet Union Veikko Laine Oy expanded to Estonia with a subsidiary called Karlskroona Oü (https://karlskroona.ee/) and was the world leading exporter of bananas to Russia for few years.
After 50 years of trade, the fruit and vegetable business has become only one part of the company’s operations. Today Veikko Laine Oy is a consolidated company with several subsidiaries and over 175 employees.
Veikko Laine Oy started in 1970s to invest retained earnings in listed Finnish equities and real estate. In the late 1990s Veikko Laine Oy’s investment portfolio had grown significantly and the company name was found amongst the largest shareholders of many companies on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
Veikko Laine Oy has a strong footprint on the asset management business. In the 2000s the company was one of the founding partners of hedge fund Avenir and Helsinki listed investment company Amanda Capital which was later renamed to eQ Plc. Veikko Laine Oy was also one of the founding partners of Taaleritehdas Oy, which later was listed at the Helsinki Stock Exchange and renamed to Taaleri Plc. In the 2010s the company sold its positions at eQ Plc and became a shareholder of Visio Asset Management Ltd through strategic merger. The shares of Visio Asset Management Ltd were also sold later on.
Today Veikko Laine Oy has a dedicated investment team taking care of the global investment portfolio, which consist of investments across all asset classes, public and private.
Veikko Laine Oy is financially strong company with robust balance sheet and is a reliable partner for its customers and suppliers. Annual turnover is in excess of 700 million Euros.
